Respecting the high degree of avalanche danger in Borhava (from 18.02), rescuers from Ukraine ask us, to make the monitoring of the avalanche, before the competition „Snowfest Borzhava”. Within the project, colleague from the Center of Avalanche Prevention in Jasna, went to the place and examined the degree level of avalanche danger at Gemba.
Warming in the Borzhava area, resulted a temporary stabilization of snow (there is moderate danger level, second degree). On the windward side, the snow is blows by the wind and it’s frozen. On the leeward side slopes are dangerous, there is a blew fresh snow which can cause sluffs from small additional loads.
In the upper parts, there is 40-150cm of snow, on the leeward slopes there is 250 cm. Triggering is possible primarily from high additional loads, particularly on the indicated steep slopes (above 35 °). Ski trails are safe.
